Apostilles

Documents issued abroad normally need an apostille to be used in Czechia, except where a bilateral treaty waives it. An apostille is usually obtained at a diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate) or at the ministries of the country concerned — typically foreign affairs and justice. We are glad to arrange apostilles for Czech and foreign documents alike.

Notarial certification

Certified copies and signature verification can be done in these ways:

• in the country itself, before a notary
• at that country’s diplomatic mission abroad (embassy or consulate)
• before a notary who travels to you

We are happy to go with you to a Czech notary, arrange for a foreign notary to travel if you cannot, or accompany you to the relevant diplomatic mission.

Powers of attorney, wills and deeds

Powers of attorney work differently from country to country. Some steps need only a simple authorisation; others call for a formal notarial power. In some countries powers are entered in a central register; in others only the notary holds them. They are executed, and where required registered, before a notary in the country concerned or before a consular officer at a diplomatic mission. We help you obtain the power for your specific purpose, working with our lawyers and, where needed, notaries — we book the appointment at the mission and come with you.

Foreign documents

Birth, marriage and death certificates and other foreign documents can usually be obtained — apostille included — at the diplomatic mission. We book the appointment and help you get them, and arrange the translation afterwards if you need it.

Civil law

In civil law we most often help with buying, selling or letting property, with the sale and purchase of vehicles and other goods, and with civil contracts generally.

Commercial law

Setting up companies (public and private limited companies, trusts and the like), transferring shares and stakes, legal representation, and the administration and upkeep of those entities are core to what we do. Every country has its own procedure and paperwork: some require you to be there in person or to grant a power of attorney, while elsewhere a company can be formed remotely.

Family law

Divorce, guardianship, shared custody, maintenance and the other pitfalls of family life in cross-border families can get complicated. Our legal team stands with you through those difficult moments too.

Criminal law

With our lawyers we represent clients before local courts and proceedings abroad, whatever the reason for the trouble. We also represent you when filing a criminal complaint.
